My love of teaching is rooted in a passion for fostering intellectual growth in all students. I believe a "tree can grow wherever it is planted," and as a result I am committed to ensuring your student achieves at a level that exceeds your expectations, and gains a love of learning in the process. I have been tutoring in one form or another since Middle School, and have amassed years of experience teaching both my contemporaries and students younger than me. Notably, I also served as a volunteer tutoring assistant at Kumon: After-School Math & Reading Programs where I taught students as young as 6 in mathematics and reading. I specialize in tutoring in the Humanities, including History, English, and other fields within the social sciences. Throughout my course of study as a Political Science major, a knowledge of history has become increasingly necessary in my daily life. I have excelled on both the US History and European History AP Exams when I was in high school, and continue to educate myself on history every day. In regards to English, I have also excelled on the AP Language & Composition and AP Literature & Composition Exams, receiving a grade of "5" in both. As a former Advanced Placement student, I am also experienced in helping students prepare for Advanced Placement Exams and helping students succeed within Advanced Placement classes. I would love to pass on this love of history and of the English language to students who are studying it as part of their coursework. In addition to my solid background in Humanities, I also specialize in coaching and tutoring subjects such as Debate and Public Speaking. I am currently the founder and President of the Chaffey College Debate Team, and I was a member of my High School's Debate Team for 3 years, amassing several speaker and team awards. In addition to my membership to Debate Teams, I also volunteer as a judge at tournaments held by Claremont McKenna's High School Public Debate Program--where I am tasked with mediating debates and providing critique so students can improve their debating skills. My schedule is slightly packed during the week, but if you contact me I will do my best to accommodate you and your student in regards to scheduling in order to meet your educational needs. Over the course of my career as a student, I have also been awarded many accolades and scholarships based on my academic achievements, including: 1st Place in the California State Legislature's 2015 Essay Contest on the Armenian Genocide 1st Place in Rotary Club's Four-Way Test Speech Contest at District Level 4th Place Speaker at the High School Public Debate Program's 2014 National Championship National History Day 2013 California State Co-Champion I look forward to hearing from you and helping you succeed in your course of study!
